Good Heat
A consumer iOS app I built for fun and shipped to the App Store. It does one thing, and it hides a game only my customers know how to unlock.
One job
Good Heat is an app with exactly one purpose: buy a jar of our hot chili oil. I built it for fun, and as an excuse to sharpen my copywriting, pushing for painkiller over vitamin. It also points you to the places you can buy the oil in person (one day soon). I never really marketed it, so it hasn't had a real audience yet, but it's live and it works.
The fun part
Because it was for fun, I built a game into it: Heat Invaders, Space Invaders with chili peppers. The part I like best is the Easter egg. It opens as normal Space Invaders, shooting down the aliens. Triple-tap the icon in the top right and the targets flip: now you're shooting at chili peppers instead of aliens. The tip on how to do it only goes out to people who've bought a jar, so the hidden version is a small reward for the people who are in on it. And now you are, too.
How I built it
All of it with Claude Code. It came together fast, a few days of back-and-forth and a few more on polish, with most of the time going into the copy. The photo already existed, so I dropped it in. It shares infrastructure with the Good Fold website, so a web storefront and two iOS apps all live under one roof. That part I think is genuinely cool.
What I'd do differently
I'd build a real acceptance environment. Right now the only way to test a purchase is to run an actual charge, and I've gotten tired of charging and refunding myself through Square. And the other one: I'd get people to use it. It's live and it works. It just never had an audience, because I never gave it one.
