Product and portfolio strategy

Conductor

Turning years of program delivery into reusable case-management capabilities without confusing product direction with technical architecture.

  • Runtime-configurable workflows
  • First true implementation in Michigan
  • Hundreds of users across at least six state divisions

The strategic turn

COVID assistance would not last forever. Kinetech needed to preserve what those programs had taught us without building another one-off application for every new opportunity. I pushed the product direction toward generalized, configurable case management: capabilities that could serve many programs and many stakeholder views.

Clear ownership

Kinetech’s CTO, Marc, is Conductor’s technical architect and named the platform. My role is different: represent the program user, define the capabilities that matter in the market, shape demonstrations, and connect years of discovery and delivery experience to the product narrative.

That distinction matters. Strong product leadership does not require pretending to be the deepest architect in the room; it requires making technical work legible and valuable to users, delivery teams, and buyers.

The first proof

The first true Conductor implementation is a collaborative underwriting workspace for Michigan rental development. It supports a several-hundred-million-dollar housing bond program and brings hundreds of stakeholders across at least six state divisions into one workflow.

The product spans intake, applications, checklists, market research, financial underwriting, environmental studies, legal and architectural reviews, and tax-credit documentation. It is still early, so I describe its scale and scope rather than inventing time-savings that have not yet been measured.
