What It Is
Good Fold is a dumpling brand. We make dumplings that are worth making: well-sourced, properly folded, built around a production process that can scale without losing what makes them good.
I built it from nothing.
What I Built
The brand. Name, visual identity, packaging direction, voice. The whole thing.
The production operations. Recipe R&D process, batch production workflows, quality control checkpoints, supplier relationships.
The software. An internal tool that manages R&D tracking, production batch records, inventory, and cost analysis. Nothing off-the-shelf handled the specific needs of a small-batch food production operation, so I built the thing that did.
The website and e-commerce. Built and currently in development for direct-to-consumer distribution.
Why This Project Matters
Every other project I've worked on, someone else owned the outcome. I was a builder in service of someone else's vision, which is fine — I do that well.
Good Fold is the first thing that's fully mine. And building it made something clear: the gap between "knowing how to build things" and "building a thing you fully own" is enormous, and crossing it changed how I think about all the work I do.
The discipline it takes to make a good dumpling — no shortcuts, no half-measures, everything in service of the final product — is the same discipline that makes good software. I'm more rigorous about both now.
Current Status
In active production. Building out e-commerce distribution. The internal ops tool is in v2 development.
